Welcome to Black Letter (“Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By purchasing a subscription or using our website, you agree to the following Terms and Subscription Policy.

 

Please read carefully before completing your purchase.

 

1. Service Description

Black Letter is a fictional, non-interactive, mailed letter subscription service.

Subscribers receive:

• One printed fictional letter per month

• Delivered by post

• In discreet packaging

• As part of a 12-letter sequential story

Black Letter is:

• Fictional

• One-directional

• Non-interactive

It is not:

• A real admirer

• A personal relationship

• A correspondence

• Therapy or counseling

• A dating service

No responses are expected or accepted.

 

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to purchase or receive a subscription.

By completing checkout, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

 

3. Subscription Plans & Billing

Monthly Subscription

• Billed at $27.95 per month.

• Automatically renews each month unless canceled before the next billing date.

• You may cancel at any time through your account portal.

Annual Subscription

• Billed at $299.95 per year.

• Renews annually unless canceled before renewal.

• Includes 12 letters delivered monthly.

All prices are listed in USD unless otherwise stated.

You authorize us to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until canceled.

 

4. Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard.

• Cancellations must be completed before your next billing date to avoid additional charges.

• Cancellation stops future renewals only.

• Charges already processed are non-refundable.

 

5. Refund Policy (Stripe)

Due to the nature of the product (fictional written content delivered by mail), all sales are final once a letter has been mailed.

Refunds are only issued if:

• An annual subscription is canceled before the first letter is mailed.

We do not issue refunds for:

• Personal preference

• Dissatisfaction with story content

• Missed cancellation deadlines

• Postal delays outside our control

If a letter is confirmed lost or damaged in transit, we may resend the letter when inventory allows.

 

6. Shipping & Fulfillment

Letters are mailed once per month in a scheduled batch.

• Enroll by the 15th to receive that month’s mailing.

• Orders placed after the 15th begin with the next mailing cycle.

• All subscribers begin with Letter One and receive the full 12-letter story in sequence.

Subscribers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.

We are not responsible for delivery issues resulting from incorrect addresses entered at checkout.

 

7. Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Stripe or other authorized payment processors.

We do not store full credit card information.

If payment fails:

• We may retry automatically.

• Your subscription may be paused until payment is resolved.

 

8. Non-Interactive Boundary

Black Letter is intentionally non-interactive.

• Letters are fictional.

• There is no real individual writing to you personally.

• No direct contact with writers is permitted.

• No replies are accepted.

Attempts to bypass this structure may result in account termination.

 

9. Chargebacks & Disputes

If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting us to resolve the issue, we reserve the right to suspend your account.

We are committed to resolving billing concerns promptly via customer support.

10. Intellectual Property

All letters, designs, branding, and website content are the intellectual property of Black Letter.

You may not reproduce, publish, distribute, or resell letter content without written permission.

Personal use only.

 

11. Emotional Wellness Disclaimer

Black Letter provides a fictional literary experience.

It is not a substitute for:

• Real relationships

• Mental health treatment

• Professional counseling

If you are experiencing emotional distress, please consult a licensed professional.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Letter shall not be liable for:

• Indirect or consequential damages

• Emotional interpretation of fictional content

• Postal carrier delays

• Subscription misunderstandings where policy was clearly disclosed

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the subscription during the prior billing period.

 

13. Modifications

We may update these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted with a revised effective date.

Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of revised Terms.

 

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota.
