Who is Black Letter?
Black Letter is proudly co-owned by a woman and a gay, disabled creative — built by people who know a thing or two about depth, resilience, and refusing to live small. We don’t do bland. We don’t do basic. We believe in bold words and stories that feel like they were written just for you. Our lived experiences shape the voice, the vulnerability, and the fire behind every envelope. Inclusive by design. Intentional by nature. A little daring on purpose.
Why Fiction?
Black Letter letters are imagined — by design.
They are not written by a real admirer and are not part of a personal exchange. They exist in the same space as a novel, poem, or song: meaningful in the moment, complete when finished.
The ending is intentional.

Is Black Letter porn? No.
Black Letter is not pornography. It is a fictional, literary letter experience rooted in imagination, emotional nuance, and refined sensuality. There may be sexual undertones but it is poetic and not erotic.
The tone is intimate, not explicit. The writing leans toward atmosphere, longing, and suggestion rather than graphic detail.
Black Letter is designed to evoke feeling — not shock.
Will there be photos? No.
Black Letter focuses on the written word. There are no photos included with the letters.
Can I respond to the writer? No.
Black Letter is designed to be received, not replied to. Maintaining this boundary protects the integrity of the experience.
I didn’t receive my letter.
Please allow standard postal delivery time. Letters are mailed by the 20th of each month via first-class mail. If your letter has not arrived within 14 days of the mailing date, contact us. If confirmed lost, we will resend when inventory allows.
My letter was damaged in the mail.
We are happy to replace letters damaged in transit.
Please email us with a photo within 14 days of delivery.
I entered the wrong address or moved.
Address updates must be submitted before the 15th of the month to apply to the next mailing. We are not responsible for letters mailed to incorrect addresses entered at checkout.
When are letters mailed?
Letters are written, printed, and mailed once per month.
Enroll by the 15th to receive that month’s mailing.
Subscriptions placed after the 15th begin with the next cycle.
Anticipation is part of the experience.
What if I start mid-year?
You always begin with letter one. You will receive the full 12-letter story in order.
You do not lose any letters.
What if I don’t like the story?
Black Letter is a curated fictional narrative. We do not customize storylines or issue refunds based on personal preference. If the tone is not aligned with you, you may cancel future mailings at any time.
Are refunds available?
Refunds are not issued once a letter has been mailed. If your annual subscription is canceled before the first mailing, a full refund may be issued. After the first letter is mailed, the subscription is considered active.
What happens if my payment is declined?
If payment fails, we will retry automatically. If unresolved, your subscription will pause until updated. Letters are mailed only to active subscriptions.
How does auto-renewal work?
Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. If monthly payments are stopped/cancelled, letters will not be sent. Annual subscriptions renew each year unless canceled prior to renewal. You may manage renewal from your account portal at any time.
How do I stop auto-renewal?
Log into your account and cancel before your next billing date. Cancellations after billing apply to the following cycle.
Can I give Black Letter as a gift? Yes.
Gift subscriptions are available. Gift subscriptions will auto-renew until cancelled.
Is this a substitute for a real relationship? No.
Black Letter is fictional and one-directional. It does not replace companionship, romance, or partnership. It offers a contained emotional experience — nothing more, nothing less.
Do you have a phone number?
Black Letter operates through email support to maintain discretion and written documentation. We respond within two business days.
Why is the experience non-interactive?
We believe emotional experiences should never rely on confusion. Black Letter does not blur lines. It draws them — clearly and respectfully. Each letter is complete within the page.

What if I begin to feel emotionally dependent on Black Letter?
Black Letter is designed as a contained, fictional experience. It is not a relationship, and it is not a substitute for real connection. If you find that your engagement with Black Letter feels overwhelming or begins to replace real-world relationships or responsibilities, we encourage you to pause your subscription. If you are experiencing emotional distress, loneliness that feels unmanageable, or compulsive behavior, speaking with a licensed mental health professional can be helpful.
